Shrewsbury author Kevin Buck already has one book under his belt, a compilation of tributes he’s done at graves of several pop-culture icons.
So why launch a Kickstarter campaign for his second book, “Together Forever Within Our Hearts,” a tribute to entertainment’s famous partnerships?
Licensing costs, Buck explained on his Kickstarter page. After substituting several public domain photos in “Looking for Miss Crabtree,” published in 2012, Buck decided he didn’t want to make the same compromises in his next book.
The Kickstarter campaign, which runs through 9:15 p.m. June 16, aims to raise $4,000. The crowdfunding site allows patrons to pledge certain dollar amounts in exchange for recognition by the project’s creator — in Buck’s case, anywhere from $2 for a thank-you email to $5,000 for a five-day gravehunting tour in southern California.
Per Kickstarter’s rules, if Buck does not reach his goal by June 16, he’ll lose all pledges.
